SUNDAY NIGHT!

After passing out fliers we went to Heights Presbyterian Church
where Mark Robertson is the pastor. We helped him get ready for the service by
taking down the art show that was all over the space we had to worship. We then
got to tour the church that had a massive stone sanctuary surrounded by stained
glass windows. In the worship service there were many hymns that we sung that
were led by a white man playing guitar, an African American woman singing, and
an Indian man playing percussion. At this particular service there was a moment
for mission from a group called Youth for Christ that works on bringing the Gospel to schools in the area. After the service itself Mark ordered pizza for
us to eat while he answered all of the questions that we had for him about being
a church planter. He commented on how Shaker Heights neighborhoods have 2
million dollar houses right next to neighborhoods with 20 thousand dollar
houses, giving the city a very interesting dynamic. It was encouraging to hear
about his appreciation for every person at his church even if it is not growing
quite as quickly as he wants.
