SUNDAY AFTERNOON!
Hey bloggity blogsters,
it's Micah here to report what went down on day one. We started our adventure
at Luke Easter Park where we handed out fliers about our Bible camp to people.
There were four groups in four different areas of the park, and my group got to
walk around the playgrounds and pavilions where families and kids were. The
people there were predominantly African American. A lot of the parents there
were so different from our standard idea of a parent. People had so many
different styles and choices about their appearances. It was important for us
to see that despite these differences, these parents still love their children
as any other parent would. I was initially nervous because talking to strangers
is never ideal. I was taken aback by how open and friendly people were. The
very first people we met were friendly and excited that we were doing a Bible
club, and after our encounter with them things really went smoothly. My group,
at least, got very little bad reaction out of people. Most at the very least
were polite and kind. My favorite encounter we had was with four guys who
you could tell were a little bit drunk. We handed them fliers, and they were
pretty open to what we were doing. One guy said "I may be drunk but I'm
still a believer." We quickly left the encounter for obvious reasons, but
I thought it was pretty funny. Overall it was a great experience, and that last
encounter I mentioned was our most negative, if you would even call that
negative. I was relieved and grateful that God allowed us to have a smooth
afternoon of talking to people we'd never met and letting them hear what we
came here to do. Thanks for reading that that was a lot of words. Notice that
"that that" just made sense. And now "that that that" just
made sense. Ok, I'm tired goodnight everyone.
